![]() ![]() ![]() Yes, it's still a gun, and yes, it can be shoehorned into the role of CC, but its design is that of a range plinker. I'd much rather have had the gun designed as a SA/DA with safeties. My personal opinion is that the HP22A is not an ideal carry handgun because of the way the action (SA), and the safeties do not blend together for CC. So keep your booger hook off da bangswitch during the draw and swipe the firing pin block safety off. The issue with this is if the trigger is pulled while the firing pin block is engaged, you now have to disengage the block and manually cock the hammer. Because the HP22A is a Single Action Only (SAO) gun and pulling the trigger does not cock the hammer, if I were you and wanting to CC this handgun, I'd probably carry it cocked with the trigger safety disengaged but the firing pin block safety engaged. A worn or malfunctioning sear interface could still cause the hammer to slip off of the sear and fall upon the firing pin. The standard safety on it is a "trigger safety" intended to prevent the sear from disengaging on the hammer. ![]() Click to expand.Your M88A can be carried that way because the safety system on it was designed for that. ![]()
